    Wednesday, September 2nd, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

  • About This Event

On Wednesday, September 2nd, 6:30 – 8 pm, there will be a special live stream introduction to our Foundation Program in meditation. You are invited to attend for free this introductory evening and the subsequent taster Foundation Program class on Wednesday September 9th (6:30 – 8:30 pm). Registration is required (see below)

    What is Foundation Program?

The Foundation Program course gives people the opportunity to engage in a more in-depth and structured approach to the practices of meditation and Buddhism. Through following traditional methods of study we can gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of Buddha’s teachings, develop a powerful meditation practice, and bring about a positive transformation in our mind. On Foundation Program we get to connect with similar like-minded people and form great friendships that keep us inspired in our meditation practice and our spiritual growth.

What is being studied on Foundation Program?

Following on from the introduction to FP on Wednesday, September 2nd, 6:30 – 8 pm we will begin weekly classes studying the section “What is Meditation?” from the book How To Understand the Mind by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. This book offers us deep insight into our mind, and shows how an understanding of its nature and functions can be used practically in every day experience to improve our lives.

Through studying the section on meditation we will learn how we can develop a powerful daily meditation practice – one that gives us spiritual clarity, confidence, and direction. In particular, we will be looking at “Lamrim” meditation. Lamrim, or the stages of the path to Enlightenment, is a series of heartfelt meditations that awaken our loving kindness, compassion, and wisdom, and enable us reach our highest spiritual goals. These ancient meditations are steeped in Buddhist wisdom and are perfectly suited to modern life – helping us to build a foundation of inner peace within our busy and often stressful lives.

When are Foundation program classes held?

The classes are held weekly, on Wednesday evenings, from 6.30 pm – 8.30pm. The duration of studying the section on Meditation will be approximately 3 months (until the end of the year) and classes will resume in the new year with a new section of the book for those who wish to continue. These ongoing FP classes are not offered on a “drop-in basis” – as people who join FP commit to trying their best to attend as many of the classes as possible to give continuity to their learning and development.

What is the cost of Foundation Program?

After the free introduction and subsequent sampler class, enrolling on Foundation Program (FP) costs $65 per month. FP Membership includes the weekly FP class and free live stream access to all our drop-in classes at KMC Florida. FP Members also receive discounts on many of our meditation retreats.
