Unchanging Friend – Reliance Upon the Spiritual Guide

    Saturday Workshop

The root of our spiritual life is the practice of learning how to rely upon a spiritual guide. A deep understanding of this practice empowers us to protect ourselves and others from suffering and to experience true happiness.

This workshop is designed to help define what true reliance is and what are the correct objects of that reliance. In this way we find within ourselves a special type of wisdom that becomes our unchanging friend and helps us to navigate the uncertainties of modern life and gain authentic spiritual realizations.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of practitioners

“Our mind is like a field, our Spiritual Guide’s instructions are like seeds sown in that field, and our faith in our Spiritual Guide is like water that germinates these seeds. If these three come together we will quickly and easily harvest a rich crop of Dharma realizations. If we do not have these conditions at the moment we should pray that we will find them in the future.”

    – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, Great Treasury of Merit
