Teacher Training Program TTP

Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm

Sundays 5-7pm

with Gen Kelsang Gomlam

The Teacher Training Program is for those people who wish to build a solid foundation and experience of Buddhist teachings and who wish to become qualified Kadampa Buddhist Teachers. Students are currently studying the book, “How To Understand The Mind”. The class meets twice weekly, on Tuesday and Sunday evenings.

The TTP class meets twice weekly and readings for the current book, How To Understand The Mind, are assigned in advance of each class. During class there is a meditation and teaching related to the assigned section of the text and a paired discussion at the end of each class. The students then decide what to practice over the next week. At the end of each book section there is an exam.

  • attend all classes in person or online
  • if a class is missed, audio recordings will be provided and students will complete a makeup summary
  • students are asked to memorize essential points and outlines of assigned texts
  • students will take a test at the conclusion of each book or book section
  • attendance at one group puja (chanted prayers) weekly is required and attendance at monthly ritual prayers, Offering to the Spiritual Guide and Melodious Drum, is encouraged
  • students are required to complete several meditation retreats each year

The Teacher Training Program is $80 per month, 12 months a year.  The program fee entitles the student to attend all General Program classes for FREE, and all workshops, day courses, and retreats at a discounted rate. Natural breaks in the program occur during winter and summer holidays.
